Out here, fuel isn’t just a cost—it’s a lifeline. As drought conditions begin to bite across regional NSW, a dual crisis is unfolding: the land is drying up, and the rising cost of fuel is stretching already-tight family budgets to the breaking point

For our regional communities, fuel is the difference between isolation and connection. 

When the cost of a tank of petrol competes with the cost of a week's groceries, families are forced to make impossible choices.

To meet this moment with compassion, Anglicare’s Chaplaincy program provides Release Packs to young men as they leave the centre.

Each pack costs approximately $250 and contains essential clothing, hygiene items, life administration aids, and mental health and community resources. These are everyday items, and they offer something far deeper: dignity, stability and hope.

For young men who have often experienced trauma and disadvantage, receiving a thoughtfully prepared pack sends a clear message: you matter, and your future matters.

Each release Pack comes with care and — supports young people at the moment they are most at risk of reoffending and most in need of ongoing care.
