Leah, mum of five faces an impossible choice every day – pay for medical treatment or buy food for her children. At just 33, Leah was diagnosed with glaucoma. There is a chance that in a few years, she will be completely blind.
Anglicare’s Community Pantry vans travel around Sydney on a fortnightly basis, welcoming people in need to fill a bag of groceries and fresh food worth $60 for just $15. Having an extra $60 a week can mean the difference between medical care, or going without.
It also helps people like Leah to connect with a community who cares about her. Because the Community Pantry operates through Anglican churches and is administered by church volunteers, they are able to share the love of Jesus with people who need support.
